How we used the 180 Degree Rule :
We used the 180 Degree rule efficiency to our advantage where me who was the councilor and Kaval who was being stalked by the Stalker had to talk face to face. We had to ensure that we did not cross the 180 degrees or it will mess up the shot and would be completely wrong. We face difficulties during this as we completely forgot how the 180 Degree rule was used. This meant we had to go back to our scene that we did and re-do the whole of the scene where me and Kaval have the conversation about the stalker. In order to use the 180 degree rule we had to ensure the camera was always on the opposite shoulder. For example If it was on Kaval's left shoulder it would be on my right it wouldn't be on the same shoulder otherwise it would completely break the 180 Degree rule. This is the problem we came across while filming the shots for our mini trailer called "The Encounter". But after looking over our clips we figured out how to fix the scene and re-filmed the whole scene between me and Kaval after school hours which helped us a lot.
How we used the rule of thirds:
To ensure all our scenes where perfect we had to go by the rule : Rule of Thirds where the screen is split into 9 boxes. This helps the person stay perfectly in the shot and shows more professionalism in our work. The rule of thirds ensures that the audience sees the background as well as the main object in the shot. We did not come across any issues with the Rule of Thirds as we used the rule efficiently and properly. The rule of thirds shows that the scene is ordinary and not out of the ordinary, it keeps the scene as natural as possible.
How we used the Match on action rule:
We had used the match on action rule throughout the whole of the trailer. For example this was present when Kaval was walking through the corridor within the media block on his way to the councilor. We had no problems in achieving this so this saved us time in re filming any shots that were not as good as it would've been.
The challenges we faced during the production of our trailer:
We faced a few problems while filming our trailer. The first big problem we faced was that we didn't use our time consistently because we were often distracted by things that were not related to what we where doing. Also we couldn't stay in character which wasted a lot of filming time. To improve this issue we had to stay concentrated and don't let anything distract us and we overcame this and finished our filming Also we had filmed a scene wrong which had included the 180 Degree rule. To fix this we had to go over the clip that we had recorded and see what went went wrong within the scene. After we had figured out what the problem was we had to plan when our group would re film this due to the fact that each of had different time tables. After a little talk we decided to come after school and film the wrong set scene. If I was to improve everything overall I will be more strict with what we do and set a target in what to get completed in one day.
Our
overall strengths in our work we done:
Our overall weaknesses in our work we done:
The most weakness we suffered was staying in character while filming. This meant we would lose precious time in filming due to the fact that we couldn't stay in character. This would often happen if one actor wasn't serious and would make the other actor laugh. One other minor weakness in the team was that we weren't that good at communicating while filming. This also made us lose precious time towards filming which lead us to giving up time after school in re-filming bad shots / shots we had not done.
What I would improve on my work:
The thing I would improve will be the story of the trailer overall as it is not as fast paced as I wanted it to be. This will mean that I would have to shorten the timing of every scene so it's short and snappy; this will make it more fast paced. Also to further improve my work I would make the editing more professional because during this production I had not added music to the background as I couldn't find suitable music for the trailer and I missed a lesson which put me behind on editing time.
Our overall strengths we had been on our
editing of the whole trailer on the iMovie program. We was all taught how to
use the program and we all adapted properly to the program and got our edits
done. Also as a group we all participated and communicated together which meant
we got our work done while having a great time filming the trailer. We used the
equipment properly and we were very professional with it. We used them with
ease and we quickly adapted on how to use the camera, tripod ect. On our planning we was also good with it as
the whole group contributed and we all gave ideas. We would all agree to an
idea which was great and often embed to or three ideas together to make an
ideal idea.
