Evaluation of Me-Video

For this section of the Media BTEC course we were asked to create a 2 Minute Me-Video. We was allocated around 2 weeks to complete filming our Me-Video and have it fully edited and uploaded to Youtube by Friday the 18th. Throughout the course of these 2 weeks I have improved a lot of skills for Media Production and used them to my advantage on my Me-Video.

How I have improved my Pre-Production Skills :
I have learned a lot about Pre-Productions skills throughout this filming process. I have learnt that without any planning the time you have allocated yourself will not be distributed evenly for the time you film and the time you edit. I set myself strict guidelines on what I would be filming every lesson; In order to do this I was given a script which I had to create for all the shots in my Me-Video so I do not get stuck half way throughout the Video. This also helped because I can easily move onto things as soon as I have finished the other without wasting valuable time thinking about what I will be doing next. For this Pre-Production part of the coursework it has helped me think about Locations, Dialogue ect. With these types of skills being learned I can embed them in future course works throughout the course of the year. For the Pre Production I had to thinks of every single location I will be using in my video and all the shot types I will be using within the Me-Video.

How I have improved my Production Skills :
By doing this Me-Video I have been exposed to more shot types which will help the variety of shots in my Me-Video. I have learnt how to use a green screen which was very useful because for our next piece of coursework we can use these skills to create the music video. The use of a green screen is that we can use images that we want to speak about in the video. For example I used some graphics work in place of the green screen to illustrate to the audience I do graphics as a hobby. Throughout the course of the creation of the Me Video I have learnt all the uses of iMovie and how each tool works within the program itself.

How I have improved my Post-Production Skills :
I have learnt how to use iMovie properly throughout the course of this Me-Video. This has helped me a lot because the editing is what keeps the video flowing and makes it look really good. One of the main things I had learnt was to key out the green screen which was filmed in lesson. I was instructed to go into preferences and enable advanced tools so that we can remove the green in the green screen and replace with an image of our choice. Also I have learned skills such as speeding up a video in order to decrease the time taken to view the video. By learning these skills you can embed them into future projects which come up in media Production.

How will the skills learnt during ME-VIDEO help in your Music video Production :
The skills we have learnt will definitely help us in the production of our music video because we have learnt the most vital skills any person which has taken media should know. For example to put one of our skills to the test we need to plan out our Music Video and see what shots, angles, scenes we will be doing, This will help us save time as we are not thinking what we are doing as we go through the course of the Music Video. Also as we have learnt more shot angles the Music Video would look more professional and more of a higher standard to if we was to use the same shot over and over again. As we have improved our editing skills on the iMovie software the music video will look good as we will sync all the shots together to make it flow and look professional. The skills that have been used making the Me-Video will be embedded into making the music video. Also the Music video would be longer so a lot more various types of shots will be used in order to make the Music video flow better. The music video will be at least 3 Minutes longs so the shot types we use will be used more. Also I am going to be using more shot types and camera angles in the course of the music video because the music video has more filming than just graphics within the video and the green screen would be used more often because of the nature of a music video.
